|Biographical details||Sir James Meek (1778–1856) was civil servant, who entered the public service in the commissariat department in 1798 and was appointed a paymaster in the Royal Navy in 1800. He was made a commissioner of the victualling board in 1830 and was appointed comptroller of the victualling and transport services at the Admiralty in 1832.|
