Description The East Indiaman 'Bangalore' is depicted pitching on a choppy sea along with several ship boats carrying the crew. She struck a coral reef nine days out from Amboyna. Survivors in the pinnace and jolly boats reached Sourabaya, where they were kindly received by the Dutch and later sent on to Batavia. This is the account given in Tegg's "Account of Shipwrecks". Inscribed: "Loss of the Bangalore, Capt Lynch, on a Coral Reef in the Indian Sea". Print is contemporary with the wreck of the Bangalore in 1802. Hand-coloured.
