Description A painting on slate depicting a view of Greenwich Hospital from the river. The Thames is busy with a wide variety of vessels. To the right of centre a ceremonial barge makes its way across the river to Greenwich, with a number of elegantly dressed people on board. There is a paddle steamer visible on the right and several rowing boats viewing the scene. The painting probably depicts a royal visit to Greenwich Hospital by William IV. A large crowd lines the embankment where a second ceremonial barge is about to leave. There is an inscription including 'Greenwich Hospital', lower left.
