Description Five microscope slides. These microscope slides come from a 14 drawer cabinet found in the Herschel family home in the 1950s. Collectively the contents of this and a similar cabinet seems to suggest that they were used by successive generations of the family to store specimens, material and apparatus for carrying out experiments. The slides form a set, all related to the study of the polarising properties of geological samples. Each slide is labelled. - 2 Quartz Obliques. Azotate de Strontiane. Houppes. Dichroïque. - Axinite. Bourg d'Oisans. Houppes. All were produced by English maker, W. LADD & Co., Beak St, W.
