Description A vegetable slicer made from whalebone. An example of the utilitarian items made from whalebone such as clothes pegs and pie crimpers. It may have been made commercially rather than by whalemen. This type of item is stll regarded as scrimshaw. It is likely to be associated with the London whale fleet. The owner's initial 'A' has been roughly carved on the end of the handle.
