Above: 'L.19', the setting sun behind. Reverse: Beneath heavenly eye, inscription, 'FLVCH . DEN . BRITEN ZVR . SEE . FLVCH . EVREM SCHLECHTEN . GEWISSEN HILFESVCHENDE . SCHIFF BRVECHIGE . HABEN . VNTER . GEHEN MVESSEN.' (Curses on the British at sea, curses on your bad conscience. Shipwrecked men seeking help, must go down.) Below: A pair of scales; between them: '2 . 2 . 1916.'
