Description A wooden box of submarine cable samples. There are sixteen samples of cable - eight short lengths and eight cross sections in a glazed wooden box with a hinged lid: There is a small plaque that gives detials of the cable samples, with an inscription that reads "BRITISH INDIAN SUBMARINE TELEGRAPH COMPANY'S CABLES 1870. CONTRACTORS TELEGRAPH CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE COMPANY LIMITED & REDUCED".
