|Biographical details||Lieutenant Harry Allen was a Training Officer on HMS IRON DUKE, during the First World War. He joined the ship in December 1916, some months after the battle of Jutland, where the IRON DUKE was flagship of the Grand Fleet under Admiral David Beatty. Beatty was still in command when Allen joined the ship. After service with the Second battle squadron, the IRON DUKE was transferred to the Mediterranean and then the Black Sea during the Russian civil war.|
