Biographical details Hnery Elgar entered the Navy on 19 May 1853, joining HMS DAUNTLESS as a painter. He joined the PRINCESS ROYAL amongst the carpenter's crew on 21 November 1853 and served on her until 5 December 1859. He served on HMS QUEEN between 9 July 1860 and 15 December 1863.
Description Contains mostly copies of poems written out by hand with two pages of 'remarkable days' during his service on board HMS QUEEN, between 23 February 1860 and 8 January 1863. Includes four pages of shipping movements for HMS PRINCESS ROYAL and HMS QUEEN, giving dates of depature and arrival.
