Description A relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition 1845-48. A piece of a preserved meat tin found on Montreal Island, 16 May 1859, by the McClintock Search Expedition 1857-59. It was discovered by Carl Petersen beside an inukshuk on the east side of the island and had probably been moved there by the Inuit. The item is a folded strip of tinned iron plate, with red paint on the outer surface. Presented to the Royal Naval Museum, Greenwich by Miss Sophia Cracroft in June 1892.
