Description Embroidered panel for a waistcoat, commemorating the Eden Treaty of 1786. Britain and France ratified the Eden Treaty in 1786. It marked the end, if only for a short time, of the heated economic competition between the two nations, and was one of the most important trade agreements of the century. However, the Treaty was highly disadvantageous to France, unpopular with French merchants, and did not last.
