Description Scale: 1:24. A model of the research brigantine Research (1939) made entirely in wood with metal and organic material fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted green below the waterline and white above with a narrow brown stripe running the entire length of the hull at deck level. The superstructure is painted white and the decks are unpainted. Hull fittings include a pair of anchors, a companion ladder rigged on the starboard side, and a small two-bladed propeller. The bowsprit and jib boom is fitted with a metal dolphin striker which has a support brace attached to the stempost. Four jib sails are rigged. The foremast is square rigged with five sails set. Deck details include four ventilators painted white and facing aft, capstans and windlasses, several skylights, and a ship's wheel at the stern. There are two lifeboats with white hulls stowed on davits. The model is mounted on a pair of roughly shaped black painted crutches.
