Object ID SLR2071
Description Scale:Unknown. Model of an Admiralty pattern type anchor made entirely from iron . The crown, flukes and palms illustrate the typical Admiralty pattern type with the flat-sided oval shaped shank tapering up towards the square section complete with two small shoulders and a large circular ring. The model has been stamped with a series of numbers which probably linked to descriptive document or key explaining the various parts and use of the anchor. The weight is stamped on the side of the shank at the crown "84-0-02" , the number 1883 painted in white and also printed on a paper label which may denote a year of manufacture or acquisition although this style of anchor was superseded by the early nineteenth century.
